Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon // The Sailor Team

The Sailor Team is the first of the teams to appear, and is most often identified by Sailor Moon fans as the Inner Senshi. The Team includes a sub, officially identified team called the Seeraa Yon Senshi (Four Sailor Soldiers) as well as Sailor Moon. Others have worked and assisted this team, including Sailor Chibi Moon, Luna, Artemis, and Diana, Tuxedo Mask/Prince Endymion, Queen Serenity, Pegasus/Helios, and Sailor Pluto. Although the paths of these characters and the Sailor Team cross frequently and poignantly, they are not recognized as being part of the Team itself.
This Team is made up of very caring individuals, and that reflects on their actions in battle. They strive to avoid harm to anyone, no matter the consequence to themselves. This was especially apparent in the battle with the Death Busters, and the ongoing disagreement with Sailor Neptune and Uranus' methods. They also don't dwell on differences and instead accept people, even though they may be given coldness in return, such as in the case of the Sailor Starlights in Sailor Moon Sailor Stars. They are self-sacrificing, even when it comes to their enemies, and are first and foremost sympathetic to their opponents, no matter how horrific or cruel their actions may be. They are sometimes pegged as naïve, but no one can contest that their methods are always effective in the end. This Team's "strength" is often called into question by Sailor Moon fans, because of their predominantly passive approach to battle. Their attacks and bodies may not be as strong as other Teams, but truly, they fight with their hearts - something that has proven to make them the strongest of all.
The Soldiers
Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon is the soldier of love and justice, a clumsy but enthusiastic member of the team. Despite the fact that her companions protect her, she is consistently the soldier strong enough to obliterate the enemies or lead them to the right path, making her the protector. Sailor Moon is quite the unexpected hero, due to her crybaby and clumsy antics, but she does change dramatically as she fights as Sailor Moon. She is also the reincarnation of Princess Serenity of the Silver Millennium, and consequently possesses the powerful Silver Crystal.
Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury is the soldier of intelligence and is essentially the brain of the operation, with a rumored IQ of 300. Her quick wit and acute intelligence aid the Team frequently. With her Mini Super Computer, Sailor Mercury can analyze dangerous situations and an enemy's weakness, making her invaluable to the Team's operations and success. She is the weakest of the Four Soldiers, but her attacks are useful and can be used defensively (such as Sabao Spray). Sailor Mercury attacks with water.
Rei Hino/Sailor Mars is the soldier of passion and battle. She is extremely aggressive and doesn't hesitate to attack. Her bold actions principally aid the team, but can cause problems if she acts too quickly on her impulse to strike. She is gifted with the ability to sense evil and also has dreams that warn of possible futures, such as in Sailor Moon S. This puts the Team one step ahead of the enemy in many cases. Sailor Mars' attacks are the second strongest of the Four Soldiers. Sailor Mars attacks with fire.
Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter is the soldier of protection. She is physically the strongest of the Team, and a very courageous soldier. Her brute force and bravery combined with her undeniable urge to defend her friends from harm make her an essential component of the group. Jupiter is the soldier of this team most likely to attack enemies physically. Sailor Jupiter's attacks are the strongest of the Four Soldiers, and she controls lightning.
Minako Aino/Sailor Venus serves as leader of the Team; she is the soldier of love, and attacks using light. She is backed by her extensive experience fighting evil as Sailor V, and when she first appeared in the anime she took a very serious approach to battle. She is a formidable opponent, and doesn't hesitate to give orders to her comrades, as seen in the Sailor Moon R movie. Her powers are slightly stronger than Mercury's.
The Gathering of the Sailor Team
When the Silver Millennium was invaded, the Four Soldiers faced off with Metaria in hopes of saving Serenity. They attacked simultaneously, but were no match for Metaria and were killed in one strike. Queen Serenity sealed them inside the Ginzuishou so that they would be reborn on Earth once more to lead happy, normal lives. Luna and Artemis were also transported to Earth.
Queen Serenity's wish for the girls to be happy lasted until their 14th year, when Metaria was resurrected. The Four Sailor Soldiers needed to be awakened and fight in order to protect the princess. But first, they needed to be found.
During the course of the first story arc, Luna struggled to find the legendary sailor soldiers as well as the Princess. She was successful in locating three of the Four Soldiers, including Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter. She also discovered a new soldier to protect the princess, one who did not exist before. This was Sailor Moon.
Meanwhile, Artemis had discovered the leader of the Sailor Team, Sailor Venus. However, he had not helped her awaken as Sailor Venus, but had her fight crime as Sailor V, possibly to aid in her training. Eventually Sailor V was awakened and joined the Sailor Team to fight as Sailor Venus.
Ultimately, the Sailor Team is just a group of five best friends who are there for each other no matter the circumstance. Their close-knit relationships with each other are ones of trust and love, the foundation for their success as soldiers and friends alike. They are very different people, but when they're together they are the perfect, if unexpected, Team.
