Character Information: Balm (Youma)
Balm appeared in episode 2, "Oshiokiyo! Uranai house wa youma no yakata" (I'll Punish You! The Fortune House is a Youma's Mansion) in the Classic series of Sailor Moon. While in disguise as a human fortune teller, she had the ability to manipulate people through the means of her fortune telling. Her "psychic skills" were employed by her master Jadeite after he took notice of the energy humans invested into their unknown future.
To manipulate her victims, Balm would do a tarot reading for her customer. She would then plant the Devil card on them and it was through that card she was able to control them. The Devil card would bring out reckless and exagerrated behavior in the target, such as Gurio Umino. Umino acted completely out of character; he showed up to school without his uniform on, flipped up Haruna's skirt, pelted rocks into the teachers' office window, asked Usagi out on a date and demanded she kiss him. Other students were taken under Balm's control as well, and their rebellious behaviour was the target of Jadeite's plan for energy gathering.
In her Youma form, Balm attacked with her tarot cards, which had edges as sharp as razor blades. Her hair also acted as a weapon, and could turn into tentacles with claw-like points. She also employed the use of her victims to attack and defend her. After being struck in the face with a rose by Tuxedo Mask, she was caught off guard and then obliterated by Moon Tiara Action.
