Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen (1993 Summer Special)

Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen translates to An Alternate Legend: The Dark Kingdom Revival Story. It was the debut Sera Myu production, and was consequently the first musical to star Anza Ooyama as Sailor Moon, heralding the beginning of the official "first stage" of the musicals. This musical is a retelling of the original story seen in the first series of the Sailor Moon anime and manga. This musical was the 1993 Summer Special, and ran from August 11, 1993 to August 29th, 1993.

Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen's date of filming is unknown as is its VHS release date. The VHS is now out of print but a remastered DVD version was released on February 25, 2004. This musical is also included in the first Special Musical Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon Memorial DVD Box Anza Ooyama Moon. No other omake, fan-kan, or guide videos were released.

The original soundtrack, Memorial Album of The Musical, was released on August 21, 1993 but is now out of print. A single featuring La Soldier and Sailor War was released on August 1, 1993, and it too is out of print. Songs from this musical can be found on the following musical albums: Ongaku Shuu - Best Soundtrack, Theme Songs 1993-1999, Fan ga Erabu - Best Songs Collection, Love Ballad Edition, and Dark Side Edition Best Songs - Yami kara no Melody.

Trivia
  • This was the only recorded musical with Luna and Artemis.
  • Yuuta Mochizuki, who went on to star as leading man Tuxedo Mask, debuted in this musical and was cast as Kunzite.
  • La Soldier was this musical's theme song, which was the only myu song to cross over to the anime appearing in episode 88. This song was also performed in virtually all musicals after this one, either as part of the show itself or an encore.
