Series, Specials, & Movies Information: Sailor Stars

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Sailor Stars is the final series of Sailor Moon. It debuted on March 9, 1996 and concluded on February 8, 1997, consisting of 34 episodes. There are two versions of the opening, both set to "Sailor Star Song" by Kae Hanazawa. The two endings are set to different versions of "Kaze mo, Sora mo, Kitto..." by Arisa Mizuki. The final episode played a special ending animation sequence that featured the Moon Lips version of "Moonlight Densetsu."

The title of Sailor Stars may come from the appearance of the Sailor Starlights or the Star Seeds. It should be noted the corresponding manga arc is called simply "Stars". It is unknown why the anime embellished upon this name.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Sailor Stars was based upon the Stars arc (Acts 50 - 60) of the manga. The Sailor Stars storyline and characters have also been re-imagined in the following musicals:

Queen Nehellenia reappears after her defeat in Sailor Moon SuperS when a voice coaxes her to break the seal she placed on herself. Her appearance prompts Sailor Saturn's reawakening, allowing Super Sailor Moon to attain her Eternal form as well as upgrading the Outer Soldiers to Super Sailors. The Queen's strategies prove to be very successful, but after a struggle, the Sailor Team is able to allow her to start her life over.

The remaining episodes of Sailor Stars showcase the coming of several new characters, and the exit of Mamoru and Chibi-usa just as Sailor Galaxia and her Sailor Animamates begin capturing Star Seeds. A mysterious toddler named Chibi Chibi appears, and no one knows who she is or where she came from. The Three Lights,a popular idol group, turn out to be the Sailor Starlights. They are leading a desperate search for the missing Princess Kakyuu.

Each of Sailor Galaxia's Animamates are eventually defeated, and Princess Kakyuu finally appears. However, her presence doesn't last long and her Star Seed is quickly stolen by Sailor Galaxia.

The Shadow Galactica's headquarters are discovered when the entire city is under attack. The Sailor Team heads to battle, but are quickly defeated. Only Eternal Sailor Moon and the Starlights survive, and they face off against Galaxia. Chibi Chibi finally reveals her identity as Sailor Galaxia's Star Seed, the Light of Hope. Galaxia's body becomes completely overtaken by Chaos, the entity that Galaxia sealed into herself ages ago. Usagi, refusing to fight, reaches out to the good Galaxia buried within Chaos, and the evil is dispelled.
